The objective of this study is to assess the influence of parental educational style and self-esteem on the academic performance of 9th grade students at the Lycée Municipal de Marcory in Côte d'Ivoire. In a quantitative approach, a sample of 100 adolescents equivalent according to age, status of the student (doubling or not) was constituted and submitted a questionnaire related to the educational style, self-esteem and academic performance. The data collected in the field, analyzed by means of the statistical technique of Student's T, lead to two essential results: On the one hand, the adolescents subjected to the flexible parental educational style have a better academic performance than their counterparts with a rigid educational style. On the other hand, they also show that adolescents with high self-esteem perform better than those with low self-esteem.
