Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Theodore I Palaiologos or Palaeologus (c. 1291 – April 24, 1338) was Marquess of Montferrat from 1306 until his death. He was a son of Emperor Andronikos II Palaiologos and Irene of Montferrat. When his uncle John I died in 1305, the male line of the Aleramici marquesses of Montferrat went extinct; Theodore, his close kinsman, inherited Montferrat. He disembarked in Genoa in 1306, slowly gaining the Montferrat territory contended by Manfred IV of Saluzzo, the Acaja family and King Charles II of Anjou. In 1310 he received the imperial investiture from emperor Henry VII.
